CONVENTIONS OF AN OPENING SEQUENCE
At the start of every film, there will be a distributing and production company logos. This is to show that these companies have worked on making the movie that you are watching. The most famous are:
- Warner Brothers
- Warner Brothers
- 20th century fox
TITLES
The next thing that you will usually see is the titles, although in some cases this is not true. In the titles we see the directors name and who the main celebrity icons are going to be within the film.
The fonts that are used in the titles usually reflect the theme of the film. For example; horror films will have a blood almost type of font and then love films will have a more basic font type.
ESTABLISHING SHOT
There is usually an establishing shot at the beginning of every film although this rule doesn't always apply. This is to show the surroundings/main area of where the main scene is going to be set.
SOUNDTRACK/MUSIC
The score to the film is very important in setting the whole atmosphere to the piece. This is usually played at the beginning of the opening credits and it usually a theme that is associated with the movie. An example of this is jaws.
